Happy Holidays!

Hey babes,

Just taking a second to express my heartfelt gratitude for your readership, friendship, and support. It does mean a lot, and this is the season for saying so. At least, I think it is.

I’m not Christian, but I know a lot of you probably are. Also, I do celebrate Christmas customarily, so. Happy Christmas!

The 30th (this year) is Bodhi Day, which is an important Buddhist holiday (for some Buddhists, anyway). But you basically just meditate a lot and make charitable donations, keep the precepts, things like that. Not super commercial or grabby. But maybe take a moment that day to observe your breath and think about the possibility of enlightenment. Even if you think of it on a sliding scale, some movement in that direction is possible.

I also wanted to let everyone know that I am not going to be promoting the paid features in 2023. Is this a strategy? I guess, but mostly I’m just tired. It isn’t really working, and I don’t like sales, so. If you want to think of it as a built-in Patreon-like feature, that’s great, and I really appreciate the financial support. But I’m tired of reading on other Substacks (and my own) all this pitch-y stuff about upgrading to paid and everything. It’s not my aesthetic, and it’s not really doing anything, so imma drop it for a year and see how that goes.

Now, having said that, this is not the same as saying I have no desire to be paid for my creative labor. I do, and to those of you who are paying for this, thank you! That’s very kind of you. The paid option will continue to be available; I just won’t be promoting it.

Anyway, enough of that shit. Hope you are all safe and warm and cozy with someone who loves you, even if it isn’t an ideal setup.
