Dream #11

I wake up, remembering that I am getting ready for a date … or I need to be.

This guy, who is kina young relative to me, handsome-ish, is there in my bed—fully dressed, shoes and all—and is really a bit on the pushy side, like I think he’d prefer we just fuck then and there. But I am trying to be somewhat graceful and explain I am just waking up, I haven’t shaved yet. He doesn’t seem to care. But I do, so I tell him to hang tight, I’ll grab a fast shower and get dressed and then we can go out.

The guy’s basically matching my intent, but I can feel his drive behind it. It doesn’t scare me exactly, nor does it completely put me off. I do wish he would chill just a bit, gimme a minute to wake up and get pretty.

I take a moment to feel the luxury of my bed, the very warm—but not hot—plush comforter. It’s overstuffed and white and yet somehow doesn’t completely ensnare me like a lot of those things do.

With a demure sweep of the hair, I get out of bed and adjust my slip, then go to the kitchen, which is right off my bedroom. There’s just one small step up.

There’s a sec where I worry he might try to follow me, but he doesn’t. I see then, though, that he has a friend with him in my parlor. They’re both chillin’ out there, and I wonder how that’s gonna work. I mean, I’m down for whatever usually, but I’m pretty sure this is just our date, not this dude.

But I’m like whatever, and grab a piece of toast from the kitchen, a sip of coffee, then go to the downstairs bath, grab a quick shower.

When I return to the kitchen, my mother and her sister are there talking about something. Or complaining. It’s really the same activity with them. They are happy, I guess. They’ve been wanting me to date, even though I don’t know about it. They also ask me if I know where these toys are that my kids are looking for. I say I really don’t know. They show me a little terrarium, and there’s some stuff in it.

I nod and go, Um-hmm, then give a little wave, and leave, go back out to dude and his dude.

He tries to kiss me then, and I let him kiss my cheek.

Mason shows up then and is talking about D&D stuff.

I’m just smiling and nodding, but then the date guy and his man start dropping off game lore to my kid. They’ve got some of it wrong, which Mason handles well. I just kind of wait.

That’s it. That’s the dream.

Play procedures

• If you’re trans and on HRT, you might know the feeling I’m describing when I say I can remember this kind of drive, but it no longer feels the same in me. If not, maybe take a moment to try and imagine it, what it might be like. If you’re keeping a journal, write it down.

• Anything you know about Dungeons & Dragons you may now import to our story. You may be able to actually find some of those elements later on, learn some of the spells, and so forth. Write it on your sheet, or it doesn’t count. Old school style.

• If you want to tag along on the date, you can. You can have the other guy; or, if you’re not into that, you can just watch or whatever. Or just be there, like a friend. Whatever you want, babe. If one or both the guys are too off-putting, and you want to talk me out of the date, that won’t be hard to do. A simple success on something like a persuasion check should do the trick.
